Pre-endorsement stage Capabilities described on this site are planned. Nothing here describes a capability that currently exists in operation. See the roadmap.

A measurement company, built narrow on purpose.

Vemissure exists to make methane measurements defensible. What it builds, what it refuses to build, and how it plans to reach customers all follow from that one objective.

Pre-endorsement Pre-revenue Sensor-neutral by design Not a regulated entity

The company

Independent, by construction.

Vemissure is being built as an independent, sensor-neutral quantification-and-uncertainty engine. It sits above any satellite feed — public or commercial — and converts retrievals into a reconciled, site-level emission figure with a calibrated uncertainty interval and a re-derivable evidence trail.

It owns no satellites. That is a design decision, not a limitation: hardware ownership would destroy sensor neutrality and disqualify the company from the verifier channel that carries roughly a third of the revenue plan.

The product is not data. It is an assurance input — the artefact a verifier attaches to an Article 12(3) reconciliation and an Article 8 verification statement.

Primary message

Defensible methane measurement.

Secondary

Calibrated uncertainty + traceability + reconciliation + reproducibility.

Tertiary

Independent, sensor-neutral infrastructure for methane MRV.

The category change

Incumbents sell detection: something is leaking. Selling the number is how much. Vemissure sells the defensibility of the number: how much, ± how much, tested, traceable, and reproducible in five years' time. A narrower claim, and a stronger one.

Market

Sized bottom-up, with the assumptions shown.

Reporting entities × achievable annual contract value, triangulated against third-party market data.[10] All figures are planning assumptions from the business concept note — business-plan estimates, not independently verified market facts. Vemissure is pre-revenue.

Beachhead and expansion waves

WAVE 1

UKCS & Norwegian upstream operators

35–50 operators with EU market exposure. They inherit the obligation through their offtakers, offshore inventories are weakest, industry bodies put most of them in one room several times a year, and they already spend on methane advisory.

WAVE 2

Certifier programmes · M14–30

Opens when an evidence pack has been accepted into a real filing.

WAVE 3

EU importers · M24–42

Largest contracts, slowest procurement. Requires three referenceable customers, one live programme and ISO 27001.

WAVE 4

Global OGMP reporters & traders · M36+

Requires the transfer standard shipped and the coverage report published annually.

Each wave opens on an asset, not a date.

Two motions

Cycle6–12 months · 9–15 months to sign
CAC£45–60k · £8–15k per facility
Year-3 contribution~60% direct · ~35% channel

Two channels are explicitly rejected: paid media, because there is no search volume for an unnamed category; and self-service, because an artefact that must be defensible in a regulatory filing requires a scoping conversation.

Year 1 has no revenue by design

The product does not exist until Month 14. Year 3's £1.20m plan decomposes as five direct closes (£365k), one certifier programme (£200k), six pull-through operators (£390k) and SLA and tasking uplift (£245k). It depends on one certifier programme signing by roughly Month 30 — the largest single commercial risk in the plan, and it is named as such.

Retention

Once a verifier has accepted Vemissure as the measurement basis for a filing, switching means re-opening a settled methodological question. The reproducibility ledger deepens that: historical continuity lives with the platform. Targets: logo retention ≥85%, net revenue retention 115–130%, driven by site expansion rather than price rises.

Capital. Approximately £450,000–550,000 to MVP acceptance at Month 14, from founder capital plus non-dilutive grants, then a seed round. A planning assumption; no investment, grant or facility is claimed.

Scalability

The argument is the channel, not the code.

Direct enterprise sales at £45–60k CAC cannot scale a one-founder commercial function. A verifier-embedded licence reaches 8–25 operators per programme at £8–15k per facility. That is the step from a services-shaped business to an infrastructure-shaped one.

Direct model

One customer, one sales process.

SALES PROCESS 1 OPERATOR n SITES

Channel model

YEARS 1–3

Workflow integration

Once a verifier has accepted the measurement basis for a filing, switching re-opens a settled methodological question.

YEARS 3–5

YEARS 5+

Margin profile

Pure-software delivery on an asset-light base. Gross margin is planned at 55% in Year 2 rising to 78% in Year 5, as the corpus amortises and the channel share rises. Planning assumptions.

The flywheel

More validated sites → deeper corpus → tighter, more defensible intervals → greater verifier and regulator trust → more customers and sites → deeper corpus. Scale improves the product, not merely the revenue. The measurable proof is one metric: median interval width per site at fixed confidence, falling monotonically.

Roadmap & stage gates

Every gate carries a number and a named alternative.

So that failure produces a decision rather than a delay. Vemissure is pre-endorsement: nothing below is complete, granted, contracted or secured, and month numbering is relative to programme start.

Objective: prove the innovation and close the validation gap. No patent has been filed or granted.

Gate R0 — the cheapest and most important gate

It uses published controlled-release datasets, costs nothing but founder time, and either validates or kills the central innovation claim before a facility is booked or a pound of capital committed. If it fails, the documented response is a pivot to a reconciliation-only product — a smaller business, but a real one. That branch belongs in the plan, not in a later discovery.

Gate thresholds are the founder's proposed criteria, for agreement with the endorsing body.

Open risks, costed rather than deferred

Two remain open and are named: securing a controlled-release validation pathway (a national-metrology-institute campaign, estimated £40–80k), and naming the commercial co-founder. Both sit inside the pre-endorsement window at zero and near-zero cost.

Regulatory & compliance position

Not a regulated entity — and that has to be protected.

The boundary

The operator carries the Article 12(3) obligation. The accredited verifier carries the ISO/IEC 17029 accreditation. Vemissure supplies an input to both and carries neither. We supply a measurement basis; we do not verify, certify or assure.

Cross that line in a single sentence and three things happen at once: the accreditation claim becomes a misrepresentation, the verifier channel closes because the partner now sees a competitor, and the verifier's own impartiality position becomes harder to defend.

Compliance posture
  • Mandatory: company identity verification, tax, UK GDPR, right-to-work, auto-enrolment, employers' liability, Bribery Act
  • Customer-driven: ISO 27001 by M24 as an explicit Wave 3 gate, Cyber Essentials, professional indemnity, UK/EEA data residency
  • Assessed, not applicable: Outer Space Act 1986 and Space Industry Act 2018 — Vemissure neither operates nor procures the launch of a space object

Total planned compliance spend to the month-24 contact point is £33,000–62,000, concentrated in ISO 27001, which is treated as a revenue enabler rather than an overhead. Planning assumption.

The published coverage benchmark is comparative in nature and will be governed accordingly: published third-party data, published method and code, right of reply for any system assessed, and legal review before publication.

Background

Vaishali Muthuraman is a data and technology professional with a multidisciplinary background in electronics and communication engineering, astrophysics and data analytics. She holds a Master's degree in Astrophysics from the University of Glasgow, where she worked extensively with complex scientific datasets, satellite observations, Python and advanced data analysis.

Her professional experience in data analytics has developed the ability to turn complex data into meaningful insights and practical solutions. Vemissure brings that scientific research background together with applied data and technology work, directed at a problem she describes plainly: the inconsistencies that arise between company-reported inventories, satellite observations and other monitoring technologies.

The venture's purpose follows from that — to make methane emissions data more reliable, transparent and useful for organisations that need to meet regulatory and environmental reporting requirements, and in doing so to combine data, technology and environmental responsibility in service of better-informed climate action.

Combining my scientific research background with my experience in data and technology, I am developing a climate tech venture focused on methane emissions measurement, quantification and verification. Vaishali Muthuraman, founder

Founder–market fit, stated accurately

Working with satellite observations and complex scientific datasets is directly relevant to the quantification layer. The business concept note is nonetheless explicit that this is adjacent to, not identical with, the uncertainty-calibration and metrology claim at the centre of the plan — and that the case must evidence the extension rather than assert it.

The coverage benchmark at gate R0 is precisely that evidence, which is why it is the first milestone on the roadmap rather than a later one. Relevant expertise is a strong foundation from which to build the capability — not proof that the capability already exists.

Optional additions

The profile above uses only what has been supplied; nothing has been inferred or embellished. Four things would strengthen it further if you want them published: selected peer-reviewed publications with DOIs for a linked publication list; the employment or research history you are happy to show publicly; the commercial co-founder once named (an open item in the plan); and any advisers or technical collaborators, with their written consent to be named.
